Frequently Asked Questions

When does Carnival season occur each year?

Carnival dates vary each year as they're tied to Easter. Typically, Carnival occurs in February or March, with the main celebrations happening in the days leading up to Ash Wednesday. Rio's Carnival is the weekend before Ash Wednesday, Barranquilla's is the following weekend, and Trinidad's is simultaneous with Rio.

Do I need to be in good physical condition for this tour?

Carnival involves significant walking, dancing, and standing for extended periods. While we provide seating for major events, street parties require stamina. Participants should be comfortable with physical activity and large crowds.

What should I pack for three different Carnival celebrations?

Comfortable walking shoes, lightweight clothing for warm weather, costume elements for participation, rain protection, sunscreen, ear protection for loud events, small backpack for essentials, and power adapters for three different countries.

Can I participate in the parades or just watch?

We offer options for both! In Trinidad, you can join a "mas band" to parade (additional cost). In Rio, participation is mainly through street blocos. We provide guidance for those who wish to actively participate beyond spectating.

What safety measures are in place during Carnival events?

We work with trusted local partners, provide safety briefings, arrange secure transportation, and maintain communication protocols. Major events have significant security presence. We recommend keeping valuables secure and following our guides' instructions.
