Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best time of year for the Trans-Siberian journey?
The best time is from May to September when temperatures are most comfortable. June offers the "White Nights" in northern Russia with extended daylight. Winter journeys (November-March) offer a magical snowy landscape but require preparation for extreme cold.
What visas do I need for this tour?
You will need separate visas for Russia, Mongolia, and China. These must be arranged in advance as they cannot be obtained at borders. Our visa assistance team can guide you through all three application processes.
What is the accommodation like on the train?
We use first-class compartments (2-berth) with comfortable beds, storage space, and access to shared facilities. Higher category compartments with private facilities are available as upgrades.
How do I handle money in three different countries?
We recommend carrying US dollars or Euros to exchange locally for Russian rubles, Mongolian tugriks, and Chinese yuan. Credit cards are accepted in major cities but not universally along the route. ATMs are available in cities but not on the train.
What should I pack for such a diverse climate journey?
Layered clothing is essential as temperatures can vary significantly. Include comfortable clothes for train travel, warm layers for Siberia, modest clothing for religious sites, comfortable walking shoes, and adapters for different power outlets in each country.
